Paternity test

This was how Andy first greeted Zoe upon meeting her. He stood like that for more than an hour. I started to take pictures in case we'd need them for court later. At the end, Andy proclaimed that she was, indeed, my daughter, then went into our TV room and slept for 47 straight hours. When he emerged, he would only wear a tank top and had shaved off his underarm hair.

I think it had something to do with a loyalty oath to SEIU. Posted by Picasa

New policy

At Zoe's request, after Andy's trip, we now try to make sure our house guests get at least two square meals a day. It just makes the children more comfortable. Posted by Picasa

Why does Andy look that way?

And was there another camera above me somewhere? Or did he see the start of the Rapture? Posted by Picasa

Zoe and B

You can also see Andy, in the background, chasing Owen.

Ahh . . . that's a good uncle. Posted by Picasa

Happy girl!

She's got a feelin' in her bones that she'll have her way; she's a happy girl! Posted by Picasa

Coy

Isn't that a great smile? Posted by Picasa

Chillin' at the park

You can tell this is before I started doing the stay-at-home gig, because I look relaxed. Posted by Picasa

only for family

Owen reluctantly accepts a passenger. Posted by Picasa

Deranged

Bridgette dared me to post this photo. I have no judgment. Posted by Picasa

Hot hot hot

It's really important to stay hydrated. Posted by Picasa

On the metro

Owen, B, Andy, Zoe, and I went to see the Takoma Park Fourth of July parade. Here, we're on the metro. Posted by Picasa

Uncle Andy

By the looks of it, my brother was a very bad influence on Owen. Posted by Picasa

Diaper check?

I really hope Andy was checking to see if Owen's diaper was still fresh. Otherwise, he's just being freaky. Posted by Picasa

Hippy chick

Zoe's dad dresses her in tie-die often.
She doesn't really have a fair chance in life, does she? Pity. Posted by Picasa

A good laugh

Owen, Dad, and Mary share a good laugh. I believe Owen just told that joke about Sartre visiting Vatican City. Posted by Picasa

Birthday trip

Yes, it's a little dated, but this is me in Dad's car on the way to the Nationals game for my birthday. My brother Andy is the cameraman. Zoe and Owen were safe in the care of our friend Lisa. Posted by Picasa

Owen at the movies!

I know it's been a long time since pictures.  As many of you know, I'm home with Zoe for a month, and that parenting thing is a lot more exhausting than the practice of law.  Hence, Zoe's taking my energy instead of the blog.  Which, frankly, is probably an appropriate ordering of priorties.

That said, I do hope to post photos soon.

In the meantime, let me pass on that Owen, Zoe and I went to the movies today!  Owen watched the whole movie (Curious George) and was very very good.  He was particularly impressed with the scenes involving balloons, boats, cars, and animals.  I don't know that he followed the plot much.  He snuggled up to me and we talked through pretty much the whole movie.  And, he ate almost a whole box of popcorn (and, correspondingly, almost none of his lunch).  It was probably the best movie watching experience I've ever had.

Happy Fourth of July!

Hot off the presses! Owen, Andy, B, Zoe and I all went to the Takoma Park parade. Here, Owen watches me watch him not watch the bagpipers. Posted by Picasa

Mom and Zoe

They're a serious couple of women. Posted by Picasa

Zoe kicks at the camera

Zoe has gotten really physical lately. Here, she's going after the camera. Posted by Picasa

Andy on the green

Andy was skeptical that it would be fun to hang out on Astro turf in the sun, but I think you can see by the look on his face that he was having a great time. Posted by Picasa

Owen drinks Dad's tea

It was peppermint flavored. I guess he likes peppermint now. Posted by Picasa

Brothers

Andy and I are in the backyard. Andy's photo has a "self-portrait" function, which we're both looking at, as I took this picture on my camera. Posted by Picasa

Owen and Zoe Play

Owen has really started finding Zoe very funny. These days he reliably laughs when she does. It's very sweet.

In this case, though, we tried to encourage him not to play frisbee with her. Posted by Picasa

Zoe in her natural habitat

Zoe hangs out in the bouncy seat, with tie-die. Posted by Picasa
