Unhappy with the police?

Is this a public defender's kid or what? As soon as we got on the police motorcycle he started to cry. Posted by Picasa

Football!

The Lincoln children's museum is the only one I've seen with a football exhibit. This suited Owen quite well, though. After splashing and looking at the fire trucks, he was ready to get some quality time with a ball.

Seriously, give this kid a few years and Josh Brown will have nothing on him. Posted by Picasa

A splish-splash show

Owen really liked splashing at the Lincoln children's museum.  Posted by Picasa

At the pantry

This is more from the Nebraska trip. Owen and I got to eat at the Pantry with (my) Gran, which was a very nice treat. I used to go there as a youngster, and it was fun to expose Owen to their clam strips. Posted by Picasa

More Owen Photos

Owen has made a jump of sorts; he's now photographically present on another blog. Check out the pictures of Owen on my cousin Jess's blog here.

Owen's big weekend caused a cascade of Owen photographic goodness, and I'm a little overwhelmed with them all (in addition to being overwhelmed with all the work that piled up in two days of absence). I'm going to be posting more over the weekend, hopefully during his nap tomorrow. Tonight, though, I'm hoping to do a little reading for pleasure (though I may watch the Olympic speed skating instead; I've found that stuff really addictive). I just bought the book on Enron "The Smartest Guys in the Room" and I'm really looking forward to turning to it.

For those looking to this blog for reading recommendations (which is kind of crazy, since this is the first one I've offered), I can't recommend highly enough "The Time traveler's Wife." It's not science-fictiony; it's just a really touching love story which is very moving and gently written.

And, for those of you who asked, Owen traveled beautifully. After having my schedule messed with that much, I was cranky, but Owen's attitude stayed pretty happy. We couldn't have asked for a better traveling buddy.

Owen and Jess

This is Owen with his other cousin (or another cousin), Jess. This is Jess's turn with His Owenness in the chair with the book.

For those keeping track, Owen seems both more interested in the book and his thumb than he was when reading with John. I have no idea what that means. Posted by Picasa

Gran's perception of Owen

This is what I imagine Gran saw when she looked at Owen; a blur running with a ball. It's pretty much what most of the rest of us see too. Posted by Picasa

Learning to moon

I think Owen is trying to moon the camera here. Either than or sticking something in the radiator vent.

Neither is a good thing to do when you're a guest in someone's house. Posted by Picasa

Owen and John redux

I'm not sure why Owen keeps looking at the camera. Maybe it's because he's heard this book more than 10,000 times. Posted by Picasa

Owen with John

Here's Owen, being read to by his cousin John. Owen seems distracted by the camera; John seems distracted by something else. Posted by Picasa

Balls!

No, really, Owen was into carrying around these balls! Posted by Picasa

German Owen

I think he looks very German here. Very much a Kaiser. Posted by Picasa

Man on the run

Owen was having fun with (his) gran on the slide in our park. Posted by Picasa

Rockin' out

Owen is having a good time on the swing.

Editor's note - this is a photo from Mom's computer from her visit in November, as are the ones above. Posted by Picasa

A quiet moment

Owen had (his) Gran read his new book. Posted by Picasa

Sometimes

Sometimes dogs are best viewed from behind a window. Posted by Picasa

Look closely

If you look closely at his feet, you can see the ball that Owen doesn't seem to realize he is no longer holding. Posted by Picasa

Do the Nats need a pitcher?

Owen may not be able to get the ball across the plate, but, well, neither can the guy they've got now. Posted by Picasa

Going to the dogs

Owen is walking off to find his fortune. He thought maybe they'd have work at this construction site. Posted by Picasa

family playdate

Here, Owen plays with his cousin Citlali. I was asleep, but I hear they had fun. Posted by Picasa

Shout out to Jess

My counsin Jessica (check out her blog here (and no, you don't need to let me know it's so much cooler than mine, I know)) just found out that she's going to the University of Michigan's Joint Program in Social Work and Social Science next year. It should be a great fit for her, and Ann Arbor is a great place to spend any amount of time (except, perhaps, none).

Congratulations Jess!

Programming Note

Owen, and his support staff, are going to Nebraska this weekend to visit family. I'm a little apprehensive because I'm still feeling a little under the weather, and it didn't help that I spend my morning in a local jail explaining that recent changes in federal sentencing law do not mean that everyone gets probation, regardless of what the nerdy guy in the next cell says. Bridgette is reporting that Baby Y is starting to train for a career in cycling, and Owen is throwing a bottle cap around the kitchen.

Pillows

Owen is very taken with resting his head on things lately. For example, here, he rests his head on my cords, which he had just recently soiled by throwing his dinner at me. Posted by Picasa

More playdate action

This is from our playdate a few weeks ago with Eli, Owen's daycare buddy (though, importantly, not his "Buddy" - the blanket/teddy bear he is more attached to than his parents). Posted by Picasa

Disapproval

Owen thought we were going to play with cars. Posted by Picasa

More snow day action

Owen is as photogenic as ever, but I feel really not well. I left work early to sleep, but I'm still feeling kind of achy and fatigued. Hopefully I'll shake it off soon.

As a result, here are some new (to you) photos, but not terribly new photos in the sense of having been taken recently. Posted by Picasa
